Hands and Feet!

These past two weeks have seen the arrival of many exciting games. Fable 2, Gears 2, Fallout 3 and Little Big Planet to name a few. Each of these have been great in their own way but, with the exception of LBP, all have been sequels. I was really looking forward to an original game that pushed the boundaries. I thought that Mirror's Edge would be that game.

I am really enjoying playing through Mirror's Edge. It is both infuriating and exhilarating and has a unique way at looking at things. I love the perspective and it's amazing how quickly you get used to seeing your hands and feet all of the time. One of the most frustrating aspects of this game though is the combat. I understand that Faith is without armour and therefore vulnerable to attack but what I can't understand is that she can take three shots and regenerate but two melee hits and she's gone. The free running is a lot of fun but it didn't feel quite open world enough for me, almost as if they've only gone half way. It felt as though you were being directed either subtly with the buildings and drops or blatantly with electric fences and barbed wire.

In general this game is amazing. I really enjoy it and it's a change for guns to not play a significant part in a game. I feel it hasn't gone far enough but that's a personal opinion and I will definitely be looking forward to any similar games.
