Popping the WoW cherry...

Yesterday Jamie bought me the World of Warcraft battle chest. Up until this point I have avoided WoW. This is due to not liking the idea of paying for a game every month and also worrying I'd become addicted. Since I've tried games such as Tabula Rasa and City of Heroes recently (both of which have subscription charges) the first excuse kind of falls apart. The second excuse, well, so what? I love RPGs and if I enjoy playing it then I should play it. I might not even like it. I have a tendency to love one game and then hate another that is very similar to it. An example of this would be Oblivion and Fallout 3. I hate Oblivion. I can't explain why but everything about it just bores me. Fallout 3 has the same gameplay, ideas and general feel and I love it. But I still don't like Oblivion.

I'm not even going to open the battle chest until my day off on Sunday but already I'm nervous. I'm about to take a giant leap into the unknown........
