Well here I am again, postponing doing any useful, productive work by scribbling away on here. I should really be doing my Uni reading for tomorrow or packing or, god forbid, housework. But I'm not, I'm here.
Lego Batman arrived last week. I thought it was going to arrive Thursday whilst Jamie and I were both off and so eagerly looked up at the door every time there was the slightest sound. Instead it arrived on Friday whilst Jamie was at work so I had to wait until 8.30 to play it because I am a good girlfriend. I was really looking forward to this game as I had fun playing the other games in this franchise with Jamie. So when he got home the first thing we did was pop this game in the 360 and give it a go. I was slightly put off when I realised when playing hero there was only Batman and Robin to play as. The suits are a good idea but I was playing as Robin so had the strange choices such as Magnet boots, a snorkel and a hoover! I really like the idea that you can be good or evil though so I can overlook Robin's clumsiness and stupid accessories most of the time.
Now to be honest we haven't go too far in the game yet. We're not playing games so much at the moment due to the stresses of moving. So far in the game though the camera angles seem to have been improved though there is still that annoying moment when you respawn right on the edge and fall straight to your death once again. The sound effects seem the same as Star Wars and Indy and obviously the graphics too. The game has crashed on us once already and whilst we were fighting 'Man Bat' he completely disappeared making it impossible to finish the level! I can overlook most of this but the one thing that really annoys me is the achievements. Now I wouldn't class myself as an achievement whore but when I'm playing a game through with Jamie I expect to be rewarded as much as he is. Lego Indy got it right, the achievements were fair, we both got gamer score for completed each level and the game. Apparently there were some problems or something with people able to get achievements they hadn't earned or something in Star Wars so they changed everything again for Batman. Now you can only get the achievement as player 2 if you sit and play an entire chapter in one sitting without dropping out. Ordinarily we'd do that no problem but as I mentioned earlier we're moving so can't sit down to play as much as usual. So basically we're going to have to do the game twice and I never find much replayability in the Lego games.
So that's my little rant about our new game over. My final verdict is its fun and I have fun spending time with Jamie playing it but I certainly wouldn't put it up there as a brilliant game and I won't be playing it over and over.
